OpenAI describes a dot as an always-on agent in ChatGPT with its own cloud computer, connected apps and ongoing context. Availability is rolling out and can vary by account.

The current help guide says to create your dot on desktop web or in the desktop app. Give it one outcome and supply the relevant files or links. Use its profile to review activity and connected apps.

What to check

Your dot can perform scheduled work, but copying a prompt alone does not prove a schedule was created. Review the saved task, timing and notification settings before relying on a recurring check.

Make the result useful

Use local computer access only if the job needs local files. The help guide says that access starts turned off and is separate from the dot’s own computer.
